48 Hour Film Festival Jury Chooses Our Film as “Best Of”

    May 26th, 2006 by Gillian

Cardiff Giant rocks!(That was our official team name for the 48 Hour Film Festival). For those of you who missed our blog entry, Spokeswoman Productions participated in the filming of “Dodge,” a short film that was made as part of the 48 Hour Film Festival. Meghan and I were both scriptwriters.

Tonight was the “Best of” screening for the 48 Hour Film Festival and our film was chosen as one of the “best,” out of a total of 98 entries. The jury was comprised of the head of Women in Film and Video, a reporter from the Washingtonian, and a bigwig at ITV. This jury selected our film, as well as 20 other films, based of their superior cinematic quality and their contributions to twenty-first century filmmaking! Ok, clearly I’m biased, but I do think Dodge was brilliantly filmed and edited!

Dodge was, no doubt, in excellent company tonight. A “family film” called “Owensville” won the Best Film award. It had an American Beauty quality to it, and was about a down-on-his-luck mormon missionary who couldn’t missionize because he couldn’t ride a bike! And he befriends an OCD agoraphobic woman who teaches him gets his wheels going, and set him free. Very touching, and well filmed!

If you’re eager to see this film “Dodge” that I keep talking about, it should be up on our website soon. Check back in a day or two!
