    Superwoman-itis

    May 13th, 2006 by Gillian

Sherry wasn’t kidding when she told us that she has “Superwoman-itis.” In addition to designing the bloomers for Back in Bloomers, Sherry is also designing the website for local artist Lisa Marie Thalhammer. Lisa Marie’s works include silk-screen t-shirts with the images of stylized female boxers. Sherry is also working to create her own website to feature her graphic design portfolio, and her other artsy endeavors that she does on the side. On the side, that is, of her full-time day job as a graphic designer and full-time job as a mom of Wave, a beautiful little boy! So yes, Sherry San Miguel- the definition of “superwoman-itis.” We’re pretty lucky to be working with so many women afflicted by this splendid syndrome.

We met Sherry for brunch at The Savory Cafe in Takoma Park, MD, to check in on her bloomer-designs. Two weeks ago, we presented Sherry with our vision for what 21st century bloomers would entail— breathable fabrics like mesh, reflector tape, the Spokeswoman colors— and Sherry came back to us with some awesome ideas, complete with sketches and fabric samples. Sherry is envisioning black bloomers, made out of a very lightweight fabric with lace tracery, with accents of pink sailor buttons and fluorescent orange mesh. The jury is still out as to whether the bloomers should extend to mid-calf, or end above the knee. We definitely need to consult some experienced cyclers…so if any of you have advice, please share it with us.
